6 Ways to Minister Like the Savior This Holiday Season

By Corey Freeze

This past week we celebrated Giving Tuesday, a day recognized globally to encourage people to give back. It’s a reminder to unite, act, and inspire by supporting causes you care about. Whether you’re volunteering your time, making a donation, or simply spreading awareness, every action makes a difference.

It’s fun to serve family and friends during this season. It can feel a bit different, or even intimidating, to reach out to a neighbor or family you may not know well. I invite you to review your opportunity to serve and love your neighbor as yourself.

From an article by Eric D. Snider in Church Magazines, here are six ways to minister like the Savior:

  1. Listen. Offer hope without condemning. Help others discover the joy of following Him.
  2. Show compassion. Join others in their feelings and take their challenges seriously.
  3. Use your resources. Pray and ask what you can do. You might be surprised at the ideas the Spirit whispers.
  4. Include everyone. Be aware of who needs to feel more of God’s love, especially when planning holiday gatherings.
  5. Be encouraging and optimistic. You don’t need to be a source of negativity.
  6. Serve even when you’re struggling. A great way to cope when you’re feeling down is to serve others.

Love you and Merry Christmas!
