Jesus Is With Us

—Michelle Brimhall, Ridgeview 2nd Ward

The best visual image to me of the struggle of life is when a child is learning to swim. As each of our children were learning to swim, I took them just far enough away from the edge of the pool to where they couldn’t reach the side of the pool easily. Then I propelled them toward the side of the pool. There is this moment when they look like they are drowning but somehow through the struggle they learn to kick and use their arms to get themselves to the safety of the edge of the pool, all the while I am close enough to rush in and rescue. Without that moment of struggle, they would not have learned to swim. With my moments, days, months, and years of struggle, I have learned my trials and struggles allow me to learn and grow in ways I would not have without the struggle. I have also realized as I struggle Jesus is always within arms reach to rush in and rescue me, just as I did for my children learning to swim.
