Young Women Camp

Overview
Goal of Camp
As a Stake Young Women’s Presidency we have the following goals for girls camp:
- Help young women recognize God and the voice of the Lord in their lives.
- Recognize how God shows up for them, and have confidence that he does.
Confidence Before God
President Nelson said, “When I speak of having confidence before God, I am referring to having confidence in approaching God right now! I am referring to praying with confidence that Heavenly Father hears us, that He understands our needs better than we do. I am referring to having confidence that He loves us more than we can comprehend, that He sends angels to be with us and with those we love. I am referring to having confidence that He yearns to help each of us reach our highest potential…Now, how do we gain such confidence? The Lord answers this question with these words: “Let thy bowels … be full of charity towards all men, … and let virtue garnish thy thoughts unceasingly; then shall thy confidence wax strong in the presence of God.” “Confidence in the Presence of God” (April G.C. 2025)
Bold Invitation
President Freeman issued a challenge she heard when visiting a ward. “Bold Invitation: For One week, accept every good prompting that comes to mind. At the end of the week, look back and see what you’ve learned about the Spirit.
Alma 4:15- And now it came to pass that Alma, having seen the afflictions of the humble followers of God, and the persecutions which were heaped upon them by the remainder of his people, and seeing all their inequality, began to be very sorrowful; nevertheless the Spirit of the Lord did not fail him.
See the Light
As leaders, our job is to take their ideas, and show them how to create a camp centered around that while accomplishing our goal. We talked through different ideas and finally came up with “See the Light” from Tangled. Light has so much meaning in the story and in the scriptures.
In the story, she has an adventure as she chases the floating lanterns, and along the way, discovers her potential. In the scriptures, we learn about the Light of Christ: a light given to every single one of us. It’s not something you have to earn. It’s not something only certain people get. It is already inside of you. You are born with it.
That light helps you:
- recognize truth
- feel peace
- choose what is right
- and most importantly… feel that God is aware of you
Sometimes we expect God to speak in big, obvious ways. But most often, He speaks through that light, through quiet thoughts, repeated impressions, or simple feelings that say, “This is good,” or “You should do this.” And the more we recognize it… the more confident we become that He really is speaking to us. That’s why I love the invitation given by President Emily Belle Freeman. For one week, accept every good prompting that comes to mind. And then look back and see what you learned about the Spirit.
I love this because it takes something that can feel confusing “How do I hear God?” and makes it simple: Just act on the good. That kind thought? That feeling to include someone? That quiet nudge to pray, or to stop, or to help? That is the Light of Christ. And when you follow it, something amazing happens, you start to recognize it more clearly.
Because when you start to recognize that light… something changes. You don’t just have random good moments anymore. You start to realize those moments are actually God showing up in your life.
And suddenly—
The peaceful moments…
The happy moments…
The moments where things just feel right…
The Light of Christ
When you follow the Light of Christ, when you listen to those promptings, when you trust that God is speaking to you, you will have moments that feel like: “This is the best day.” Not because everything is perfect, but because you can feel Him with you.
“My hope for each of you attending camp is that you leave knowing, not wondering, that God speaks to you. That you can have “The best day ever!” even on the worst days. And that you’ve already been seeing His light all along.
